I was brought up near Wantage (of Tramway fame) between Swindon and Didcot, watching Westerns on the mainline in the mid 1970's. I started photographing trains in 1977 with a point and shoot 135 camera, and the results were, let's say, disappointing!
Things improved when I bought an Olympus OM2 in 1980 but unfortunately I lost interest in railways about that time (my focus changed to girls of course).
In 2007 I bought a Canon EOS 400d and I now regularly get out and about and see what I can see in and around the Thames Valley.

Also, sadly, please note that due to the abuse of the voting system, I have switched off the ability to rate individual photographs.
A collection of photos of the 6Z48 Burton-Dollands Moor steel service, operated by Colas - seen throughout the other galleries - collected here in one place
A collection of photos of 6B33 Theale-Robeston oil empties seen throughout the other galleries - collected here in one place. Also included is 6E55, the Theale-Lindsey empties, which can be identified by the grey tanks as opposed to the red 6B33 tanks
100% crops of photos I had either disregarded or revisited - because I have a bit of decent glass (Canon 70-200 L f/4), I have found that viewing at full resolution on my screen gives a totally new perspective to some photos, so I have cropped them at 100% and this is the result. Please let me know what you think.
